Claudia Zahn has directed for companies including New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Syracuse Opera, Pittsburgh Opera Theater, Houston Grand Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Hawaii Opera, Il Piccolo Teatro dell’Opera, Sarasota Opera, and Nevada Opera. Her directing credits include The Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni, Manon, Die Zauberflöte, Francesca da Rimini, Iolanta, Macbeth, The Marriage of Figaro, Samson et Dalila, Cendrillon, The Daughter of the Regiment, La Bohème, Tosca, Werther, and Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Ms. Zahn served as Associate Professor and Director of Opera Programs at the University of Washington from 1998 to 2008. She oversaw the master's and doctorate degrees in opera production, taught opera workshop, and directed all major productions. In her tenure at the University of Washington, works directed include: Hansel and Gretel, Street Scene, Cendrillon, Kiss Me, Kate, Dialogues des Carmélites, The Turn of the Screw, Così fan tutte, The Beggar's Opera, Il Matrimonio Segreto, The Bartered Bride, She Loves Me, Orphée aux Enfers, Tartuffe, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die sieben Tödsunden, and Dido and Aeneas.

Ms. Zahn not only has acting training (BFA degree with honors from Carnegie-Mellon University School of Drama), but has also studied theater and music at Brandeis University and arts management at New York University, and has additional training in piano, choreography, mime, and period movement and style.
