Jack Morris

Jack Morris performed over fourty opera roles throughout Europe and the United States. His earliest musical training was at Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Voice. He achieved several honors as a young singer including the B.Y.U. Singer of the Year Award, district Metropolitan Opera and San Francisco Opera Auditions winner, and Utah Young Artist Award winner. Morris was a member of the 1963 Merola Opera Program. He received the Master of Music degree from Indiana University and was then awarded a Fulbright-Hayes Grant which he used to study with Helmut Melchert at the Hamburg Hochschul fur Musik.
After returning to the United States, he taught voice at Odessa College in Texas and then became Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Denver in Colorado where he achieved tenure. After over 20 years as Opera Director at Western Washington University, Jack Morris retired in 2002.
